The academy’s vision is to have graduates who are well prepared and self motivated to advance Australia and to participate effectively as World citizens with Muslim values. Having such a vision in mind, the academy is offering a broader and a well balanced curriculum with global perspectives to students in primary, secondary and post compulsory levels. In a Muslim environment, Islamic Education and extracurricular components complement the general education program and produce a comprehensive contemporary curriculum that satisfies students’ needs and realises the vision. |
Academy Profile
|
Australian International Academy is an independent registered educational institution managed by a professional Academy Trust. All teaching staff are fully qualified and registered. The Academy was originally established in 1983 as King Khalid Islamic College and is Australia’s first full-time day Islamic school. The first primary campus buildings located in the Melbourne suburb of Coburg were purchased in 1982 through a donation from the late King Khalid of Saudi Arabia, and subsequently the primary school campus and then the secondary school campus were named after him. The Melbourne secondary component of the Academy started in 1991 with Years 7 & 8 classes. This has progressed to reach Year12 VCE and IB classes in 1995. The Melbourne Secondary Campus of the Academy is situated in the suburb of Merlynston about 12 km north of Melbourne. This Campus opened in 1995. In 2006, the original King Khalid Islamic College expanded to include a campus in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The college also took over the administration of Noor Al Houda Islamic College located in Strathfield, Sydney. To reflect the expansion of the college, the college was renamed as the Australian International Academy, consisting of the following four campuses: · King Khalid Coburg Campus (Prep – Year 5 Levels) · Melbourne Senior Campus (Year 6 – Year 12 Levels) · Sydney Strathfield Campus (K – Year 12 Levels) · Australian School of Abu Dhabi Each campus is run by Campus Heads; however, the overall administration of the academy is overseen by the Head of Academy. The Academy population has a wide range of students from different ethnic backgrounds including Arabs, Turks, Anglo Saxons, Indians, Pakistanis, Somalis, Ethiopians, Eritreans, Malaysians, South Africans, other Europeans, and others. The Academy also accepts Overseas Students, the number of which continues to grow. |
