The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is a two year course completed in years 11 and 12. The IB DP encourages students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
The IB Diploma course consists of two major components:
- Students must study six subjects, and three must be at Higher Level (HL) and three at Standard Level (SL). Students must study a first language, a second language, a Humanities subject, a Science subject, Mathematics and a sixth subject from the Arts or another subject from the Sciences or Humanities.
- Students must study Theory of Knowledge and complete a 1600 word essay, In addition, students must complete a 4000 word Research Essay in a subject of their choice (called the Extended Essay), both of which are assessed externally. They must also participate in ‘Creativity, Activity and Service’ or CAS as is generally known.
