At AIAE CSPC, teaching and learning are guided by the Australian Curriculum and delivered through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).
The Australian Curriculum outlines the knowledge, skills, and understandings students are expected to develop, while the PYP provides an inquiry-based and concept-driven framework for how students learn. This approach integrates subjects through meaningful, transdisciplinary learning experiences while maintaining strong foundations through explicit teaching.
Guided by our motto of Faith, Determination, and Advancement, we support students to develop as confident, reflective learners who demonstrate strong character, responsibility, and a commitment to excellence. Students develop the attributes of the IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, preparing them to contribute positively to their community and the wider world.
English
English focuses on developing confident readers, writers, and communicators. Students build skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening through both explicit teaching and meaningful learning experiences.
Learning is organised through the three strands of the Australian Curriculum:
● Language – grammar, spelling, phonics, and sentence structure
● Literature – engaging with and responding to a range of texts
● Literacy – reading, writing, speaking, and listening across contexts
Explicit instruction supports the development of fluency, comprehension, and written expression, while inquiry-based learning allows students to apply these skills in authentic and transdisciplinary contexts.
Mathematics
Mathematics develops students’ understanding of number, patterns, space, and data, enabling them to think logically and solve problems effectively.
Learning is organised through three strands:
● Number – number sense and operations
● Algebra – patterns, relationships, and generalisations
● Measurement, Space and Statistics – measurement, geometry, and data
Explicit teaching builds fluency and accuracy, while inquiry supports problem-solving, reasoning, and real-world application within meaningful contexts.
Science
Science encourages students to explore and understand the natural world through investigation and inquiry.
Students develop knowledge and skills across biological, chemical, physical, and Earth and space sciences. Through hands-on investigations and inquiry cycles, students ask questions, test ideas, and analyse evidence, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS)
HASS enables students to understand people, places, and communities, both locally and globally.
Students explore history, geography, civics and citizenship, and economics and business. Through inquiry and transdisciplinary learning, they develop an understanding of global perspectives, their role as informed citizens, and how societies change over time.
Physical Education
Physical Education supports students’ physical development, health, and wellbeing.
Students develop movement skills, teamwork, and an understanding of active and healthy lifestyles, promoting confidence, resilience, and balance.
Technologies
Technologies learning develops students’ ability to think creatively and solve problems using digital and design processes.
Students engage in both Digital and Design Technologies, developing skills in digital literacy, safe and ethical use of technology, and design thinking. They create, evaluate, and apply solutions to real-world problems in meaningful contexts.
The Arts
The Arts provide students with opportunities to express ideas, explore creativity, and develop confidence.
Through visual and performing arts, students create, respond, and reflect, building imagination and an appreciation for diverse perspectives.
Quran, Islamic Studies and Arabic Language
At AIAE, education is understood as both a responsibility and an amanah. Islamic Studies, Qur’an, and Arabic are central to our curriculum and are designed to develop students who are grounded in their faith, confident in their identity, and able to live Islam with understanding and purpose.
Qur’an, Arabic, and Islamic Studies are delivered through a connected and purposeful approach, ensuring that students build a meaningful relationship between language, understanding, and practice. Students engage with the Qur’an through accurate reading, memorisation, and reflection on its meanings, while developing the language skills needed to understand and communicate effectively in Arabic.
Through a Halaqa-based and concept-driven approach, students explore key Islamic values such as patience, gratitude, self-control, and taqwa. They are supported to reflect, discuss, and apply these values in real-life situations, strengthening both their character and decision-making.
This approach supports students to:
Wellbeing
Student wellbeing is central to all aspects of school life at AIAE CSPC. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and confident to learn.
Wellbeing is embedded across the curriculum and supports students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development alongside academic growth.

A shared language across the school supports consistent expectations and positive relationships.

Religious education at AIA seeks to impart the knowledge of Islam to our young generation of Australian Muslims. We aim to instil in them Islamic values that will guide and lead them into a healthy, well-adjusted life whereby they contribute to the growth of the society in which they live.
Religious Studies focus on four areas: Aqeedah, Deeniyyat, History and Quran. All areas are incorporated to educate and build an understanding and love for Allah (SWT) and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Religious education of Australian Muslim students is of utmost importance and by doing so we seek to:
